How To Apply to the Acupuncture School:
Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College, Berkeley

Admissions Process

Prospective students may apply for priority consideration six months in advance of their anticipated start date. The standard application deadline is three months in advance of the start of the term. Additional qualified applicants may be admitted after the standard deadline as space permits. The schedule of deadlines is as follows:

• Winter Start:
  ➢ Priority Deadline: July 15
  ➢ Standard Deadline: October 15

Additional applicants may be considered as space permits.

• Spring/Summer Start:
  ➢ Priority Deadline: November 15
  ➢ Standard Deadline: February 15

Additional applicants may be considered as space permits.

• Fall Start:
  ➢ Priority Deadline: March 15
  ➢ Standard Deadline: June 15

Additional applicants may be considered as space permits.

To start an application, complete and submit Section A of the Application Checklist. Your application becomes complete when all items from Section B are received by AIMC Berkeley.

Completed applications will be forwarded to the Admissions Committee Chair, who will conduct a scheduled interview with you, either in-person (ideally), or by telephone.

Once an interview is completed, the Committee Chair will forward your application to the Committee Members for a decision. At their discretion, the Chair may forward an incomplete file to the Committee to be considered for conditional admittance. Click here for more info on conditional admittance.

The Committee's decision will be one of the following: admit, admit conditionally, or deny. If your application is denied, the Committee will make recommendations with which you may renew your application. You have up to one (1) year to renew your application without paying an additional fee. After one year's time, you will have to re-apply and pay a new fee.

Conditional Admittance

At its own discretion, the Admissions Committee may consider your application, even when incomplete (where unofficial copies of transcripts are provided, and/or where the health forms or letters of recommendation have not yet been furnished). The Committee will only grant up to conditional admittance in such cases. Your application must be completed within one month (30 days) of your term start, and be shown to meet minimum requirements in order to continue in the program. If after such time, you have not completed your application or met these requirements, you may be automatically withdrawn from your courses. Students who have been conditionally admitted are not eligible to receive federal financial aid until their applications are complete. Tuition will be deferred until the application is complete and financial aid is received.

Waiting List

Once twenty-five (25) students have been admitted into the Standard Program for a given term start, additional qualified applicants will be added to a waiting list. We will make every effort to ensure that admitted students can enroll in their chosen term. At our discretion, we may accommodate students on the waiting list by offering additional course sections.

Transfer Admissions (AOM Schools):

You are an AOM Transfer Student if you wish to receive credit at AIMC Berkeley for units earned at another acupuncture and/or Oriental medicine school. You are otherwise a standard applicant if you wish to transfer Western science courses only. As an AOM transfer applicant you must meet the same requirements as a standard applicant. If you are also an international student, you must provide a foreign transcript evaluation and English language verification. Click here for more information on International Admissions.

Tutorial Student Admissions

If you are participating in an acupuncture tutorial program and need to take additional classes you can apply to attend AIMC Berkeley as a non-matriculating student. Turn in an Application for Non-Matriculating Students along with official copies of your transcripts documenting at least 60 units of college credit with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Please also include a brief statement describing your tutorial program, including the length of time you have been studying and the name and contact information for your tutor.
